About Us

The Alabama Neurodivergent Alliance is dedicated to making Alabama a better place to live for neurominorities. We are an AuDHD-led nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization. We strongly believe that programs meant to serve the ND population should not operate without ND leadership and input.

Our primary focus is supporting autistic, ADHD, and other ND adults who are struggling to find community and resources. By uniting parents, providers, educators, and neurodivergent individuals on a single platform, we hope to foster honest communication and cooperation that will lead to long, happy, healthy neurodivergent lives.

Why join?

As a neurodivergent person:

  • Find friends and a supportive community! Studies have shown that, while ND people often struggle to socialize with neurotypicals, the same is not true when we socialize with one another.
  • Get connected with resources in your area

As a provider or educator:

We know how hard you work to create positive outcomes for your clients or students. It can be overwhelming. And there's always more to learn to be effective at your job. If you serve the ND population, you know that our understanding of autism and ADHD has advanced exponentially in the last two decades, and continues to evolve. This is in no small-part due to self-advocates sharing their lived experiences. We hope you will use this community as a resource to better serve the autistic and ND individuals who rely on you for support.

As a parent:

Whether you are a neurotypical parent of ND children, an ND parent of neurotypical children, or an ND parent of ND children, you face some unique challenges. The parenting roadmap just isn't the same for you. We want to support you! We know online parenting groups can be hit or miss. We hope we've created something different, here. By joining our community, you'll be connecting not only with other local parents, but also with educators, service providers, and actually autistic and ADHD adults who can speak from personal experience.

As an ally:

Maybe you have a family member or a friend or a coworker who's ADHD or on the spectrum. Maybe you're just into personal growth. Whatever the reason, we're glad you're here. You can take advantage of our educational resources, volunteer your time, stay up to date on our public events, and while you're at it, pat yourself on the back. We would do it, but we don't like touching.
